wooooooow, what a spooky mission, huh?? an earth that tampers with people's minds like that ... pretty intense stuff for all our newcomers!!

ahhh, i'd offer people a round of free drinks to take the edge off, but alas, everything here is already free....so instead i'll keep bar lupin open for extended hours this week! come and have a good time ... just know if you make a scene or draw a weapon there, i'll gut you like a fish! ♥

really does make a man think, though, hm? is "morality" really so intrinsic to a person that it can be turned on and off like a simple switch? a "good" person can become "bad" and vice versa?

one almost has to wonder what the nature of such an anomaly as all that might be, really, if such an intangible notion can be so readily influenced ... and what motivations might be involved with seeking to harness such a phenomenon.

indulge me in a few little brain teasers, would you?

Hello, citizens of Etraya.

Our next mission will begin on Friday, July 18th. You will all be visiting a planet called Earth, where a cosmic anomaly is causing those with strong moral compulsions to lean in the direction opposing their natural instincts. The heroes of this Earth have gone from protecting the innocent to destroying them, while those who tend to harm others have begun aiding them. As I am sure you can guess from the information provided, this is causing significant stress for those residing on planet.

On this Earth, many individuals are known for having extraordinary abilities that extend beyond human limitations. Approximately ten to fifteen percent of the population have these abilities, whether they are given by genetic mutation, contact with a foreign substance, or if they are individuals from other planets who have found themselves taking up residence on Earth.

Many of you will find that while on planet, you will also have been given extraordinary abilities. To aid you in blending in, I will be providing you two identities: a name, and a pseudonym. Your identities will come with housing, bank accounts, and all necessary legalities covered.

This mission will last for four weeks regardless of success. I will be fetching all of you on August 18th.

You may bring along anything of your choosing on this mission. The portal will be large enough to support all of the vehicles I have brought to Etraya. Any animals, pets, or items left behind will be well cared for. If you have any specific instructions for their care, please leave them with my companion bots.

[The video turns on to show Clive outdoors. He seems to be walking rather quickly as he speaks so the video is a little shaky.]

Forgive me if the quality of this video is not great. It’s my first time doing this, but I have a message for the community.

At midday, there will be a battle in the Ochreward area. This is a planned event and there is nothing to be alarmed of. You will likely see and hear two giant creatures fighting. One will be a dragon and the other a dark knight upon his steed. Please say well clear of the area. While this is just a spar for them, it can very quickly become deadly for anyone who is too close or tries to intervene.

If the dragon sees you and can, he’ll likely do what he can to avoid hitting you. The knight will not. Don’t take the risk.

I repeat: do not approach the area. It will be unsafe for you. This isn’t a fun event to come gawk at. This is two highly skilled warriors testing their mettle against one another.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know, and I will do my best to help you. I will be near the area where the spar is happening in an effort to prevent anyone from interrupting if the request needs to be made in person, but it would be safer if you asked here instead.

Hello everyone! As some Handwave Memes are making the rounds, it felt like the best time to toss one out at Etraya Proper, especially since we're all living in a bubble here, pretty shoulder-by-shoulders even as both the populace & locations are booming. This is for all those lovely things that happen off-screen between missions and mingles and catch-alls, where you bump shoulders and pass people on the streets in the daily-life portion of everything.

Fill out as much or as little of the form you'd like, tag around, build up more handwave CR details with others, toss out questions for people under their responses, and track down some answers about other characters you've been dying to know. Have fun out there!

Canon/Canon Point/Your People: What is your canon & where are you from in it? What's important about that time? Are there more people from your canon? What do you think of them/they think of you? What does the world bubble of Etraya think about you or all of you? What might some assumptions be from the outside of it all?

Residency: Where is your person setting their head down to rest? Is it home, or just a place for the moment? Are there other people living with or near you? Do you have pets, and if so, do they require indoor or outdoor housing, or do they need to be walked, exercised, or have things bought for them, where you might be passing by others? How often does your place need to be restocked, and what might someone see in your cart?

Occupation: Do they do quests & missions? Do they work somewhere? Are they going to school? Are they doing some other job here in Etraya proper between missions? Are there other people who are attending or employed alongside them? Do they know what businesses and the like are nearby them while there?

Commonly found at: Where does your character usually hang out at, visit often, occasionally, or like clockwork on some other schedule than normal? Or do they have none of these at all? Are they visiting these places alone or with other people? Would they encounter new people there casually or intentionally? How do they get there, and what might they be passing often?

Hobbies: What are your characters' hobbies, interests, things they love? Are they doing them alone, with other people, or looking for people to join in with?

Casual Interactions: Think demeanor: does your character come off as approachable from a distance? Up close? To those near them for a short period? A long period? Does your character greet others on the street in the hub with a word, a nod, a wave, or something else? Do they hold the door? Do they ask for, or give, directions that are asked for? Do they engage in small talk, etc?

Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em: Who are the people around you? Do you have Friends? Family? Lovers? Teammates? A Nemesis? Deadly enemies? How are things going with any or all of them? How is the social network around your character looking for in Summer '25? Where could it use a breath of fresh air?

Etraya, Aurora, & Echo: When did your character arrive in Etraya, and what do they think about Etraya, Aurora, and Echo? How are they feeling about and adjusting to missions, mingles, and the multiverse at large? Whether this is on the surface or deep down, spill the tea on how your character is doing with their new 'home,' and, importantly, are these thoughts/feelings on the down low or being sung as the song of your people at dawn? Do other people know?

Questions for Other Players/Characters: Any handwave questions you might have for other players to help you fill in your/their handwave CR diagrams crossings? Let's get juicy in here. What are you looking to know? To build? To find out? To share?

Free Space to Fill: What else haven't I thought of and you need the world at large to know, whether that's something in the character background or something for players to keep in mind? Any deep dish secrets you want to share from the author's seat, even if other characters can't know it in-game yet? If not needed, feel free to delete.

[He's not used anything like this before. But Vivi decides to give it a try. It seems like it would be important to learn how to do this, to talk to everyone, after all. He just added it to the list of things he is learning and is new to figuring out. Which is a rather long one, given he is only technically a few months old, but still. There's initially something akin to the dark sky, and two blinking....wait, eyes? Before the young mage shifts and tries to adjust things a little as he straightens his large hat.]

Is it....it's working? I think. Um. Hello? My name is Vivi. I'm new here, I guess? I'm still figuring this place out. I don't know if anyone has seen my friends, whether they are around here somewhere?

[Cue him holding up a drawing he did. Vivi isn't sure if it might help. But it can't hurt? He won't know unless he tries to ask? Right? He tilts his head, lowering it for a moment as he puts down the drawing and fidgets a little.]

I was told we were here to prove something. To save our home. But I'm not sure if I should be the one who was chosen. I'm not as brave as Zidane. I'm not important like Gar -- Dagger. There's lots of other black mages. So I'm not sure why me, out of everyone...?

[He's not sure if being here might somehow impact things. His short lifespan, and however long he might have left. Aware that because they had stopped the Mist, there was likely no way to create any more black mages. At least that he was aware of. He's sure that there were plenty of other, better options to bring to prove that their world was deserving enough to be saved. But he tries to shake that train of thought.]

This place is pretty amazing, though. There's so many things here that I haven't seen or done before! It's kind of exciting! Even if it is a little scary, too.

[But at least, regardless of what happens to him, he knows the others are alright. Hopes that Zidane is. Vivi isn't sure what else to say, exactly, so he pauses after a moment before fumbling to turn the feed off.]

... It works!

[A surprised voice of a young girl comes through the feed suddenly — excitably so!

It's a good way to try and stay physically hidden from everyone else, at least... A voice doesn't really give away that you're a very, very, very small person. (Little does she know, some of the people who saw her in the casino-bean-place are here too.)]

I hear you all...! I've never used a phone before. If this counts as a phone, anyway... Um... Can we call people from our worlds? I'd like to tell my mother and papa that I'm safe... They must be really worried about me. Especially my mother. She's very nervous in nature.

[There's a pause.]

And... I think there has to be some kind of mistake, anyway. I've heard people are here because they have to prove their world is worth saving. But I'm not... I can't possibly be the person they meant to bring here. There has to be some kind of mistake. Or — if it's not a mistake, it feels unfair to the world I came from.

... Does anyone else feel like that?

[Because this feels so outside of everything and anything she's ever known.

Even right now, as she sits in a small shoebox she's converted into a hotel room of sorts in an alleyway not far from the hospital, she can't help but feel like she's lost at some proverbial sea... She doesn't have the experience her father has in a complicated world. She's pretty sure he would be lost too, but... he would at least be brave and march on without hesitation.
